About Linda Wolfe

I grew up in Oregon and was raised on a farm where I learned how to appreciate nature, simple living and animals. I spent most of my time helping to tend the garden and care for the farm animals. Many hours were spent drawing everything around me. It was those days of peace and happiness that inspired me to be an artist.

After graduating from high school I attended art school and then worked as a graphic illustrator for several years. I currently live in Idaho and work as a printmaker and visual artist. I am a Rostered Artist with the Idaho Commission on the Arts and teach art part time at a local charter school.

I fell in love with the process of creating a block print while attending art school. I work primarily with linoleum and wood blocks. I hand print and use my Vandercook No. 2 proof press (I call her Guinevere) to produce my prints. I hand color with watercolors and acrylic paint. I do draw and paint, but use printmaking as my special form of expression. I believe art should be available to everyone, therefore I offer commercially printed pieces as well as limited editions.

I would like to share the basic printmaking process with you. A design is drawn directly onto a wood or linoleum block. I cut away certain areas and leave others. Ink is applied with a roller, the print paper is placed over the top of the block, and the paper is rubbed with a wooden spoon, or printed with my press. This transfers the image from the block to the paper. When the ink is dry I add color or leave the print black and white. I am happy to share my images with you and hope you find a little magic and some of yourself in my prints.
